  1. SoundSource 4.x - New Version!

I've been using SoundSource to run Goodhertz's CanOpener headphone plugin and, occasionally, WaveArts' Tube Saturator or an EQ. It's great. Very easy to figure out and operate and very stable. Highly recommended.
  2. MacOS Catalina now available

94941 replied to94941's topic in Software

After reboot I was asked to log in to my iCloud account numerous times. I logged out and logged back in and that seems to have fixed it.
  3. MacOS Catalina now available

I didn't see a thread for this so I thought I'd start one. I'm downloading Catalina now. I'm interested in seeing how the new Music app works.
  4. New Amarra 4

94941 replied toDreaming Jester's topic in Software

The only thing I use Amarra for is to stream Tidal. It sounds quite good for that and it doesn't crash relentlessly or malfunction the way it always has as a library-based media player.

The new version of Amarra (4.2.436) has eliminated browser mode. Anyone know why?
  7. System wide Equalizer for MacOSX - opinions on eqMac2?

By the way, I was getting some crackling using Menubus and CanOpener but I just backed the output off 3db's and it was fine. It was overloading a bit.

Yeah, I like it a lot. It's the most natural sounding of the crossfeeds I've tried. Easy to use too and the presets are great. You don't have to screw around with it a lot like some of the other crossfeeds.I first discovered their iOS version. They haven't updated it though and it doesn't work at all on the latest version of iOS so I guess it's abandonware at this point.

Yeah, I'll let you know. No problems at all so far on a 2015 iMac and a 2016 MacBook Pro. No crashes, crackling, or higher temps. I mostly like to use a little tube saturation plugin if I'm just doing background listening. I also like to use Goodhertz's Can Opener crossfeed plugin with headphones. It's a good one: https://goodhertz.co/canopener-studio

THANK YOU! I've been looking for a system-wide plugin host for a long time. Menubus appears to be an excellent solution. Here's a link to their website for anyone else who may be interested: https://www.menubus.audio
  11. ECM Records streaming?

94941 replied to94941's topic in Music Downloads & Streaming

Sweeeet! I've been waiting for this for years. I'm listening to the Keith Jarrett Trio playing My Foolish Heart as we speak.I'll be streaming the ECM catalog every day for at least a couple of hours. I'm looking forward to exploring some of their less famous artists whose CD's I never took a chance on.Streaming may not offer ECM the kind of money they want but we don't live in the world of LP's only anymore and haven't for a long time. It'll mean more money for them than they've been getting by pretending that the world hasn't already moved on.And I'll be buying whichever ECM discoveries I like the most. I'm sure I'm not the only one. So I hope it's a financial success for them.

Agreed. Foobar2000 has had very good library management for about 15 years and they give their player away for free.

Same here. Downloaded zip file is labeled as 4.0.233 but extracts as 4.0.223. After installing the update, Amarra kept telling me to update when I opened it so I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Now I'm locked out of Amarra because it says my license key is invalid. The program sent me to the Amarra website to request my license be resent. That was an hour ago and no email received yet. It's all part of the standard Amarra experience.
  14. New Amarra 4

94941 replied toDreaming Jester's topic in Software

Sonic advertised the upgrade from Amarra 3 all last fall as costing $5 bucks. You click on the link to upgrade and it's actually $25 dollars. It's freaking annoying. It's not the money (it's a small amount) but why do they have to lie about it and spring the higher price on us at the checkout page? It's typical of Sonic who seem to think they're so good they can get away with anything and their customers will just take it.Also, the upgrade's to Amarra 4 because Amarra 4 'Luxe' is not available yet. Luxe is the version with DSD, up sampling, TIDAL, headphone processing, etc.

94941 replied toDreaming Jester's topic in Software

When they announced Amarra 4 being released in the 4th quarter of 2016, I almost chimed in here saying 'In Amarra-speak, that means first quarter of 2017 at the earliest' but I decided against weighing in with the cynicism. Sonic Studio makes some fine products but they always over promise and under deliver. Their product rollouts to Amarra customers are a never ending train wreck and have been for years.
